Engraved brass necklaces by In God We Trust, available at Spartan. My personal faves are the “really fuckin’ cute“, “let’s make out” and “bless this mess.”

My sister once said that my spirit name should be Travels With Chocolate. I don’t know about that, but I do love good chocolate. Great chocolate in good packaging design is even better.

Kshocolât has the prerequisite unusual flavor pairings and well-executed, understated packaging design. Of the few I’ve tried, my favorite flavor is the Honeycomb & Vanilla.

The Scoop

Sketch is my ultimate favorite local ice cream place. Owners, Eric + Ruthie, former pasty chefs at Aqua, serve up freshly made soft treats. Made every morning, they use Straus organic milk, seasonal fruits, and all-natural ingredients. I usually have a 50/50 — half Straus yogurt (tartly delicious), tempered with their seasonal granita. Recently, I tried their soft-serve Saffron, which tasted like a very refreshing, cold soup. Yummy!

From the vintage ice cream scoopers on the wall, to the illustrated blackboard menu, the shop itself is adorable. The first time I walked into Sketch, the tip jar had a “honeymoon fund” sign (Eric + Ruthie are married). Tips now go towards “baby’s college fund“. Used spoons end up in a container labeled, “sketchy spoons“.

Prior flavors included Earl Grey, Burnt Caramel, and Ginger. Pictured above is the Yogurt/Hibiscus 50/50.
