First Spring

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

The Prada Men’s Spring Summer 2010 ad campaign is set in fantastical 1930’s Shanghai. Shot by Chinese artist, Yang Fudong, the campaign is inspired by the Chinese saying, “The whole year’s work depends on a good start in spring.

Prints Charming

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Prada’s Print Collection, which uses archived company prints and fabrics, is a clear nod to the 1950s. The capsule collection consists of a single vintage-inspired dress style, ballerina slippers, and a quilted faille silk bag with a chain strap. The limited edition collection will be available exclusively at Prada boutiques worldwide in mid-May.

While I can skip these super dainty ballet flats and the retro sundress, I’m loving the idea of the printed Chanel-like chain strap bag. Predictable as it may be, I’d pair one of these cheery babies with the ubiquitous striped top.

Mix Up

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

I’m not typically the pattern-wearing type, but I’m slowly coming around to the idea of it. Surprisingly, I particularly like the mad-cap print-on-print that’s going on. Prada Resort 2010 and Balenciaga Resort 2010 were in the mix of pairing pattern-on-pattern. So was 1. Duro Olowu’s Spring/Summer 2010 // 2. If clothing isn’t one’s cup of tea, one could always send mixed messages through tableware. Area Ware’s plates were inspired by mistakes. If they were accidents, the results were certainly happy. After all, no one wants to be super matchy-matchy.

Wanted // Leaping Lizards

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

For some inexplicable reason, at this moment, I so want Prada’s reptilian clutch from way back when [Fall '03]. Either it’s a very uncharacteristically lady-like impulse [although I do own that short sleeve green/grey pseudo argyle sweater], or a very characteristically random, crazy-person obsession.
