Last summer, I spent a few months traveling through Asia, where I visited Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Hong Kong. Bargaining for prices stresses me out, nonetheless, I really enjoyed rummaging through the bazaars and hawker stalls for hidden gems.

A few of my finds: 1. Bontoc tribal warrior necklace // 2. Sterling silver Spanish Collonial hair pin // 3. Sterling silver Chinese hair ornament // 4. The only jewelry item featured here that I purchased to wear, turn of the century, Collonial Spanish gold earrings.

While in the Library

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Shu Zhai is a litte teahouse my sister and I chanced upon while in Hong Kong. The two-storey restaurant, modelled to look like a school in ancient China, is just off Stanley Market. Quiet and unassuming—the name translates to library—the food was as aesthetically pleasing as it was tasty. They serve dim sum and dan jia, which are recipes of the local boat people. We had soup dumplings, steamed dumplings, the squid and some veggie sprouts. The place was pure charm and grace. They even sent us off with paper lanterns at the end of the meal.
