Be Back in FiveFebruary 6th, 2012 Flower BedFebruary 3rd, 2012 Stella McCartney’s summer 2012 campaign images are playfully lovely. The campaign features Natalia Vodianova in a bed of super-imposed flowers. Shot in London by Mert & Marcus, the images were styled by Stella McCartney. Parallel Lines {Ice, Ice, Baby}February 2nd, 2012 Pedro Lourenco created a Pre-Fall 2012 presentation marked by an icy starkness that I find both soothing and calming. The designer inset Patagonian landscapes of photorealistic images on apparel to cool effect. {Images via Trendland} // Vladimir Donkov’s Arctic Landscapes: A Journey Through the Polar areas of Greenland, Norway and Swedish Lapland was three years in the making. The photographer spent up to two months alone in the wilderness at times, focusing on both protected and unprotected areas of the Arctic. {See more of the series online} Double TakeFebruary 1st, 2012 Born with an eye disorder that caused double vision, artist Pakayla Biehn believes her childhood experiences (including two corrective surgeries) helped shape her identity. The central theme of Biehn’s first solo show, “Every Single Where,” is the double vision she experiences when her eyes are straining to focus. The six paintings in the show feature a double exposure effect — a photorealist technique with a “painterly approach.” Pictured above are “All the time I was making this I was thinking of you,” “Hope there’s someone,” and “On and ever onward” from her Double Exposure Series. Biehn’s paintings deserve a second look, so check out her work online at Gallery Hijinks. {Exerpts taken from here // See more of Biehn’s work on her website.} Parallel Lines {White Lines}January 31st, 2012 I love these Dries Van Noten earrings from the S/S 2012 collection, which were inspired by night scene photography. {Via Style.com} // Pastoe’s Vision range of cabinets looks like minimalist sculpture. {Via Iain Claridge} The Department StoreJanuary 30th, 2012 I have a design crush on Brogen Averill’s branding and signage system for The Department Store, NZ. {Via Bet on the Dark Horse} Juice UpJanuary 30th, 2012 We can all use a little pick-me-up now and then. Stylist and designer Chantelle Grady shows us how with her vitamin booster recipes. PotionJanuary 27th, 2012 Design team Stranger & Stranger use etching methods and sorcery imagery on their packaging system for a biodynamic winemaker. The result is darkly magical. Parallel Lines {Reflections}January 26th, 2012 Drawing from LifeJanuary 25th, 2012 While in art school graphic designer Ian David Thomas found himself more interested in his classmates’ messy hair buns rather than listening to his lecture classes. His series of ink illustrations were inspired by the sketches he originally scribbled on the margins of his lecture notes. |
